Enhanceing Responsibility

Taking responsibility for one’s actions and learning is not a skill people are born with.  The media regularly comments on the lack of responsibility levels shown by individuals and the need to change.

Within this context adolescence is an interesting time: the teenage brain is being restructured, there is a strong desire to belong and students have many daily decisions to make in response to new challenges in their expanding understanding of the world around them.

This INSET looks specifically at how teaching strategies can enhance the development of responsibility during this influential time in students' lives.  It  creates a framework within which to approach this topic, and provides teachers with useful and ready-to-use tips for immediate impact.
